The NFL season has reached the Conference championship games. The games should be interesting other than not involving tru Champion Lions.
AFC Champ Game 3 PM ET CBS: Patriots at Broncos
Patriots beat the Chargers and Texans pretty easily to get to the AFC Champ Game. Vrabel has the defense humming and Drake Maye and Patriots run game is making you feel like it is the Brady years. Broncos beat the Bills in a controversial game and lost Bo Nix to broken ankle. Former Patriot QB Jarrett Stidham gets his 5th start ever at home in the AFC Championship game. Broncos still have a very good defense, but JK Dobbins (5 YPC) and RJ Harvey (3.7 YPC) will need to step up to help the very inexperienced Stidham. Broncos upset with a backup QB provides the most melts so I will root for that.
NFC Champ Game 630 ET FOX: Rams at Seahawks
Seattle is the top seed and crushed the 49ers in the divisional round. The 5th seed Rams finally took out the extremely lucky 4th Quarter Bears after beating the Panthers in the WC round. Stafford is playing MVP level and Puka and Davante are just making plays. Rams have a run game and solid young defense under young DC Chris Shula. Seattle is extremely healthy and Sam Darnold/Klint Kubiak are balling with Jaxon Smith Ngijba. Mike MacDonald has led a great defense with Seattle with extreme health with Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy and Dexter Lawrence and Uchenne Nwosu leading the way. It comes down to clutch Stafford versus Darnold for this one. Give me Stafford going for his second Super Bowl win.
Coach Shit
Lions hired a new OC in Drew Petzing from the Cardinals (3 seasons as OC). Petzing had success in 2023 and 2024 and the Cardinals run game/scheme was good to pair with an already good Lions passing game. He’ll have much more weapons in Detroit and should fit what the Lions are doing on offense/what Campbell wants. Now Detroit just needs a veteran center and new LT (if Decker retires).
The Packers lose DC Jeff Hafley as the head coach of Miami Dolphins. They already lost a front office member Jon Eric Sullivan as GM of the Dolphins. Brain drain city.
The Bears lost Eric Bienemy (Bears run game success) to the Chiefs (new OC).
