Bold Predictions 2025. It’s that time of year as fall is coming and football will count fo real fo real. Training camp and preseason is over, cut downs have occurred and the Lions are ready to dominate or will they? NFC North will be intriguing yet again in 2025. Let’s take a look at some bold and some not so bold predictions.
Bold
Bear Make the Playoffs
You heard it here first folks from a non-Bears fan. The Chicago Bears will make the playoffs in the 2025 season under first year head coach Ben Johnson. Johnson works his magic with Caleb Williams, Swift, DJ Moore, Odunze, rookie Colston Loveland/Kmet and notches an above average PPG offense with a middling offensive line.
The Bears will have the 10th ranked defense with Sweat, Odeynigbo, Gervin Dexter and Grady Jarrett improving the pass rush. TJ Edwards and Tremaine Edwards improve. Assuming Jaylon Johnson health, the Bears young secondary takes a step forward with Brisker (healthy now), Tyrique Stevenson and Kyler Gordon playing well.
Caleb hits 4,000 yards, 25 TDs and 10 interceptions.
Don’t sleep on the Bears. 10-7 and a playoff team (7th seed).
Bold
Vikings miss the playoffs
The Vikings had a lightning in a bottle year in 2024 but with essentially a rookie QB and a bad looking secondary, the Vikings regress big time. The interior Oline doesn’t improve much with Kelly, Fries and the rookie Donovan Jackson and JJ has growing pains.
The Vikings have WR issues beyond Justin Jefferson as well. Flores will keep things afloat but they were a turnover driven team a times and won’t be getting them with this secondary. Trading Phillips was a mistake. Van Ginkel regresses but Bullard is still a beast with 12 sacks.
Vikings 7-10
Bold Packers 11 wins again and Win the NFC North
Jordan Love improves to 100 QB rating with the emergence of Matthew Golden (1,000 yards and 10 TDs). Green Bay struggles in the division though for 4 losses but go 9-2 outside of it with favorable home matches against tough opponents and easier road matches.
Clark is solid, Wyatt improves, Gary improves (10 sacks) and Van Ness (7 sacks) improves. Run D is a bit more consistent but the secondary is the downfall unless a CB or two step up. Bo Melton is a starter by mid-season. Packers top 10 defense and top 10 offense.
Bold Lions Regress to 10-7 but You’ll see What Happens
Lions had some coordinator turnover but still have a stacked roster on both offense and defense. The amount of defensive injuries cost them playoff wins and a Super Bowl win after a 15-2 season. Hutch (15 sacks incoming), Davenport (8 sacks and plays double digit games), Barnes is healthy and CB1 is healthy and upgraded with DJ Reed over Carlton Davis. The Lions have a top 7 defense again but only a top 7 offense (not best offense).
Detroit gets nipped in the division a 3-3 (instead of 6-0) and have some really tough road games at Philly, at Baltimore, at Kansas City, at Cincinnati, at Washington and the 3 at division games. Detroit might be a better team in 2025 but the record is worse. 3-3 division and 7-4 with their tough schedule.
Goff 99 QB rating with 28 TDs and 11 interceptions. Jameson 1,000 yards again and 8 TDs again, Amon Ra 1,200 yards and 10 TDs and La Porta 800 yards and 7 TDs. Gibbs well over 1K and over 5 YPC again. Detroit finishes at 6th seed just edging the 7th seed Bears.
Playoffs, We Talkin Bout Playoffs
The NFC North gets 3 teams in the playoffs with the Packers the 3rd seed, Lions 6th seed and Bears 7th seed. Wildcard weekend the Lions go into Green Bay, owning the place with 4 wins in a row and Detroit kicks Green Bay’s teeth in. Bucs are 2nd seed and beat Bears. Eagles have the bye. 49ers win the West and beat 5th seed Commanders.
Divisional Round has the Eagles hosting the Lions and the Bucs against the 49ers. Lions beat the Eagles in a super close game as Detroit shuts down Barkley. Bucs beat the 49ers with a late Baker Mayfield TD.
Lions at Bucs NFC Championship game. Lions and Bucs in a defensive slug fest but the Lions get a late Baker pick and prevail. 21-17 Lions
Lions are in the Super Bowl against either Chiefs, Bills or Ravens
Lions dominate the Super Bowl and win by 20. Detroit 10-7, don’t win the North, but win the Super Bowl. You’ve been bolded. Live with it and deal with it. Boombaya.
