The 2016 Draft Prospect series continues with Cornerbacks. The cornerback class has several good first round talents and some depth. Let’s take a look.

Jalen Ramsey: Florida State

Ramsey can play both CB and safety. Ramsey is a physical freak that should be a top 5 pick in this draft. Jalen is 6’1 and 209 pounds out of Florida State. He has great leaping ability and is a good press corner. Ramsey has great awareness and is a strong tackler. He is sticky in man coverage but can play zone well with his awareness. The Seminole will be a day 1 starter and is a good leader on defense. He must open his hips more out of the press and needs to pick off more passes. Ramsey will be a good CB for any team.

Vernon Hargreaves III: Florida

Hargreaves is 5’10 and 204 pounds from the Florida Gators. He is quick twitch athlete with great leaping ability. He has good body control and can play any type of coverage. Hargreaves was productive with 10 interceptions and many pass break ups in his career. Hargreaves has minor height issue for outside CB but has the athleticism to play outside. He gave up a high YPC in 2015. He should be a top 10 pick in his draft.

Eli Apple: Ohio State

Apple is 6’1 and 199 pounds. He has good footwork and open fluid hips in coverage. He is competitive with a good work ethic and good coverage production. Apple must work on diagnosing play but he is solid against the run. Apple should be a 1st round pick.

William Jackson III: Houston

Jackson ran a 4.37 40 time and is 6’0 and 189 pounds. Jackson is instinctive with good height and makeup speed. He keeps his head towards the ball and allowed a low completion percentage. He must work on his press and support against the run. Jackson should be a 1st round pick with great athleticism.

Mackensie Alexander: Clemson

Alexander is 5’10 and 190 pounds out of Clemson. Alexander is good competitor despite his size and instinctive with good film study. He has solid technique and allowed a very low completion percentage. Alexander must work on his press coverage and is a little small for the outside spot. Alexander should be a 1st round pick in the 2016 draft.

Other CBS

Kendall Fuller (Virginia Tech), Artie Burns (Miami), Xavien Howard (Baylor), Eric Murray (Minnesota) and Will Redmond (Mississippi State) are day 2 options.

Summary

This draft has five 1st round talents and good day 2 options. CB needy teams will be happy with this draft.
