NFL Draft 2022: Round 1 Recap

Analysis

The first round of the 2022 is in the books. Oh what a night of action. Studs galore folks. STUDS GALORE

Detroit Lions

Pick 2 EDGE Aidan Hutchinson

The Jaguars fell in love with Travon Walker at pick 1 and the Lions got the best player in the entire draft. Aidan Hutchinson is going to wreak havoc for years to come for the Lions. Good pass rush and run defense and the Lions edge defenders are now stacked with Hutchinson, both Okwaras and Charles Harris. Unleash the pass rush.

TRADE

The Lions FLEECED the Vikings moving from pick 32 to pick 12. The Lions gave up 32, 34 and 66 but received pick 46. Only losing a 3rd round pick and 12 spots in Round 2 to move up 20 spots in Round 1. Yes please

Pick 12 WR Jameson Williams

The Lions added a stud number 1 WR with height and blazing speed. He would have been the top WR on the board if not for a Champ game ACL tear. The Lions are stacked at WR and weapons with Williams, Chark, St Brown and Hockensen. Goff might have his 3rd 100+ QB rating year. Embarrassment of riches folks

New Orleans Saints

I’ll throw Nichels a bone.

TRADE

Pick 11 WR Chris Olave

Saints moved up to 11 from 16 and took Chris Olave at WR. Olave is a stud WR as well and will be a good one two punch with Michael Thomas. Jameis Winston could be eating some Ws.

Pick 19 OT Trevor Penning

After losing Terron Armstead in free agency, the Saints replace him with Trevor Penning. Starting LT for years to come despite small school Northern Iowa.

Green Bay Packers

Pick 22: ILB Quay Walker

Packers held firm after a run on WRs in the teens and took a solid ILB. Bit of a reach but Walker can be productive in that defense

Pick 28: DT/DE Devonte Wyatt

Packers doubled down on defense and got a penetrating 3-4 DE. This was the missing piece to their defense and Wyatt and Clark can wreak havoc. Packers defense should be very strong in 2022.

Atlanta Falcons

Pick 8: Drake London WR

Falcons get a much-needed weapon after Ridley went crazy and got suspended. Mariota will have two big targets in London and Pitts at least. 50/50 balls galore.

Minnesota Vikings

Vikings got fleeced in the Lions trade but they do have some good day 2 picks now.

Pick 32: Safety Lewis Cine

Vikings needed a safety (after losing Xavier Woods in free agency) and they got a good one on the back end to pair with Hitman Smith. Viking have pick 34 and 66 now and retain pick 77 but lost pick 46 and 12. The new GM for the Vikings loves day 2 in this draft I guess.

Bears LOL:

No first rounder due to Justin Fields trade in the 2021 draft. Giants got a stud Olineman in Charlie Cross at pick 7. Bears will have two 2nd rounders after trading Khalil Mack though.
