LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA championship last night, and LeBron was crowned unanimous MVP of the finals for the third time.  While every championship is sweet, this one seemed even bigger for Cleveland due to its history of teams stumbling and bumbling in sports’ biggest moments.  But James, along with cohorts Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, JR Smith, Tristan Thompson, and the rest would not be denied.

It was a good series for a neutral sports fan, and even managed to eclipse the Warriors-Thunder Western Conference Finals from the previous round.  Too much of a good thing is a risk whenever a team or player repeatedly makes it to the championship of their respective sport.  That has harmed James’s public reputation for years, as fans simply get tired of seeing his mug.  Warriors fatigue began setting in these playoffs, especially when Draymond Green starting hitting every mansack in sight.  But I for one would not mind seeing a rubber match between these two teams, if possible.

For now, congratulations to Cleveland.  Have another sort of block party today while remembering LeBron’s from last night.
