GGG: What is this, a Camp for Ants?

Good afternoon, welcome to the May 11th, 2015 edition of Grits, Gravy and Gumbo.  The draft is in the books, rookies have made appearances with their new teams, and the long lull until training camp is upon us.

Atlanta Falcons
After getting a close look at their players during this weekend’s mini-camps, the Falcons made a few roster moves.
Allegedly, the Falcons, and 13 other teams, received tax payer money to honor service men and women.  Atlanta tops the alleged list with over $1million received between 2011 and 2014.
Here are some general news and notes from this weekend’s mini-camps.

 

 

Carolina Panthers
The Charlotte Observer takes an inside look at undrafted Safety Dean Marlowe.
With much ado about “Deflate-Gate”, fans and media begin to question the use of heaters to warm footballs during a November match up between the Vikings and Panthers.
The Panthers signed five tryout players after this weekend’s mini-camps.

 

 

New Orleans Saints
Rob Ryan is known for his complex defenses, but second round draft choice, Hau’oli Kikaha’s, former position coach thinks he’ll have no problem picking it up.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers added 3 tryout players to their roster over the weekend.
GM Jason Licht, was/is so confident in Jameis Winston, that he turned down offers from the Eagles for a trade in last months draft.
