Another weekend approaches.  During it, sports will happen.  If you are interested in that kind of thing, here’s a list of some of the sports you can watch.

Various and Sundry Formerly Regional Basketball Tournaments

What: NCAA Basketball

Where: All over meng.

When: Like, lots of times.  Really, just turn on your T.V.

How to Watch: Various and Sundry channels.

Why watch:  1) College basketball tournaments are dope; 2) you are about to gamble on these teams, so watching at least one game makes sense; 3) the school you attended is playing in some games, and you like the school you attended; 4) the school in the region where you now live is playing in some games, and you either hate or like the school in the region where you now live; 5) you didn’t go to school after age 4, but are prone to extremely strong local and regional pride and, since your region is largely devoid of financially important urban areas, you have very few professional teams to root for, and you therefore cling to your local college team in a desperate effort to belong to something larger than yourself, and to prove to the world that you matter, hell, that your people matter, even though doing so means you have to inadvertently support edumacation.

Things that are not College Basketball

ATP & WTA BNP Paribas Open

What: Men’s and Women’s Professional Tennis

Where: Indian Wells, California

When: All weekend long, and beyond.

How to Watch: Tennis Channel, Tennis Channel App, Illegally

Why watch:  Tennis is actually fun guys!  I mean it!  It is a great sport!  They call themselves the fifth major!  And are like one of 10 tournaments to do that!

Friday March 9, 2018

Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans

What: NBA Basketball

Where: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana (that’s a real thing)

When: 7:00 p.m. CST

How to Watch: NBA TV

Why watch:  Anthony Davis is on the Pelicans, and has been on a tear for over a month.  He probably can’t catch James Harden in the MVP vote, but it is fun to watch him try.

Saturday March 10, 2018

Tampa Bay Derby

What: Horse Racing

Where: You Tell Me

When: I seriously can’t figure out when it will run.

How to Watch: Go to a local racetrack and watch the simulcast.

Why watch:  Its the “biggest racing day in track history, with $1-million in stakes purses alone, [and] is highlighted by the 38th renewal of the Grade II, $400,000 Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby for 3-year-old Triple Crown candidates. It is a “Road to the Kentucky Derby” points race.”  Why not?!?

The rest of the offerings are basically a bunch of NBA games.  Tune in via ESPN or ABC.  I am not going to write them down.  Just watch college basketball.
