Thus far this off-season the Chicago Bears have been quiet with player transactions, with only tight end Zach Miller and cornerbacks Demontre Hurst and Al Louis-Jean receiving modest contract extensions in the month of February. Certainly new general manager Ryan Pace and head coach John Fox are taking their time in evaluating the Bears roster as a lot of work is needed to fill aging and under-performing spots.

However time is approaching for the shake-up to begin, as free agency starts next week and the league year starts March 12th. For those not paying attention, two of the Bears biggest contracts – quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s – are critically tied to that date. 17 Bears free agents need attention as well, including Bears greats Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman

Pace and Fox have patiently insisted they are methodically going through the roster, doing their research and evaluation – not only on Cutler and Marshall as the main media topics – but the entire roster. However with only eight days remaining until the league year, expect some major announcements coming soon that will provide clarity on the team’s direction heading into the 2015 season.
